Warren (George) Williams Sr. Obituary

Warren (George) Guy Williams Sr. (92) of Parsippany NJ passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024 at Morristown Medical Center Hospice.  He was surrounded by loving family members, who will miss his endless support and good humor. It truly can be said that he never met a stranger. Ask Carol in the lingerie department at JC Penney in the Rockaway Mall who missed seeing him on his walking route there upon his hospitalization.

Born on February 7, 1932, to William G. Williams and Georgia L. (Harring) Williams, Warren grew up in Wharton, New Jersey. He served for four years in the U.S. Air Force where he worked as an electronics technician and instructor. He was honorably discharged in 1955, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. After that he was employed for three years as a technical assistant at Bell Telephone Laboratories. He finished his career employed for 29 years at Picatinny Arsenal in Wharton as an electronics engineer. He attended Newark College of Engineering.

Warren lived and raised a family of four children with his wife of 53 years, Anna (Gallagher) Williams, who predeceased him in 2004.  After living in Denville NJ for more than 25 years, they happily retired to Port Charlotte, FL. In his later years, after the death of his beloved Anna, he shared another home in Dover, New Hampshire, with his second wife, Janet Hosken, who predeceased him in 2018. For all the years he was in Florida, he made the long drive to New Jersey and New Hampshire to visit his family. He never flew–he was a DRIVER all his life because he loved it. Most recently, he lived in Parsippany, NJ with his daughter and son-in-law, Georgia and Tom Beattie. He rediscovered shooting pool there at the Parsippany Community Senior Center where he was NOT a champion, but loved to tell about the tall woman there who would run the table before you had a chance to take a shot.

Warren was a member of the following fraternal organizations:

Loyal Order of Moose, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Elks in Port Charlotte, Florida.

He belonged to the following Veterans Organizations:

American Legion Post 27, Dover, NJ (past commander), 40/8 Voiture 1526. Lastly, he was a 2015 Pool Champion and member of the Men’s Auxiliary of VFW Post 5690 of Port Charlotte.

Warren is survived by his children, Georgia Williams Beattie (Tom), Warren Williams Jr. (Carrie), William Williams (Deborah), and Raymond Williams (companion Sue McDougall); his step-children, Charles Hosken (Andrea) of Arkansas; Stephen Hosken, (Elizabeth), Thomas Hosken (Aimee), and Lori Ann Marsh (Michael), all in New Hampshire; 18 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 4-6pm on Sunday June 9, at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.  A Funeral Service will be held 6pm on Sunday at the Funeral Home. Interment will occur on Tuesday, June 11, at 12 pm at Restland Memorial Park.
