Dover: Walter H. Forrester passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023 after a brief illness. Walter was born in Dover on September 14, 1932 to Ursula (Smith) and Walter H. Forrester, Sr. Before her passing, Walt was married to the love of his life, wife Elizabeth (Betty) for 60 years.
Walt graduated from Wharton High School in 1949. He worked at various jobs in the county before he joined the Navy. He served his country on various ships including the aircraft carrier, Coral Sea. After his service to his country, Walt worked at Picatinny Arsenal for 35 years, retiring in 1989.
Walt was involved in the community: 60 year member of First Memorial Presbyterian Church, Dover.
Walt joined North Star Lodge #255 (now Acacia Lodge #20) in 1956 and was Past Master of North Star Lodge (1982) and was NJ Senior Grand Warden (1990). Dad Advisor to the Kenneth Hendrickson Order of the Demolay.
Walt enjoyed spending time with his family and the outdoors hunting and fishing but especially enjoyed his 59 annual trips to Popham Beach Maine each August.
Walter is survived by his children: Kim, and Walter, III (Debbie) Forrester and grandchildren: Lawrence Biehler V (Nushabe), Walter IV, Kevin and great-grandchildren: Liliana and Sebastian Biehler.
Visitation will be held 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, June 8th 2023 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.
A funeral service will be held 10am on Friday at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover.
