Virginia D. (Dowe) Cherepy

Newton:  Virginia Cherepy passed away peacefully on March 11, 2023.  She was born May 31, 1919 to the late Karl A. Dowe and Violet M. Search in Bloomfield, NJ.  She grew up in Ogdensburg and graduated from Franklin High School in 1937.

Mrs. Cherepy worked as a secretary in many different places during her life, but her first job was at the NJ Zinc Company from 1937 – 1943.

Virginia married Coloman Cherepy, Nov. 19, 1943. They were married for 56 years.  They lived in many different towns; their last was in Wharton, NJ.

Virginia wants to thank her care givers, Lou & Karen Cherepy, Joe & Dolores Polyi, the wonderful staff at Valley View RHCC and the kind and caring people from Hospice.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Coloman.

She is survived by many nieces & nephews, grandnieces & nephews, great grandnieces & nephews as well as many cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held 10am at the Berkshire Valley Presbyterian Church, 635 Berkshire Valley Rd., Wharton, NJ 07885 on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Interment of her cremains will follow in the church cemetery.
