Viola D’Angelo Zawislak
Lifelong Resident of Dover
Our precious Mother, Viola Margaret, passed away on Friday May 14, 2021 at the age of 94. She devoted her life to her children, family, friends and was a gentle, kind, and gracious woman.
Viola was one of five daughters born to Catherine & Valentino D’Angelo and was raised among the many Italian immigrant families of Dover, N.J. She is pre-deceased by her loving husband, John Zawislak, infant son Mark, her beloved sisters Ida, Del, and Lee, and son-in-law Richard Stocker.
Viola is survived by her eldest Sister, Mary D’Angelo, daughter Donna Stocker, son’s Randy, Scott, Craig and his wife, Wendy. She leaves grandchildren Kristin Lally and husband Tim, Ryan Stocker and wife Deanna, and Paige and Jenna Zawislak. Viola also leaves great grandchildren Brayden Stocker and McKenzie Lally.
As a widow with young children to raise, Viola learned how to drive, bought herself a car and returned to the workplace as a Classroom Aide at Dover Elementary School, and later retired from Picatinny Arsenal. She will be remembered as an independent and strong woman who reached out to make a life for herself and as a loving, gentle Mother always protective and nurturing of her children. We are so very fortunate that she and our Father were there when we needed them most.
