Vincent A. Conte, Jr.

Jefferson Township:  Vincent A. Conte, Jr. passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023 at Merry Heart Nursing Home in Succasunna.  He was 93 years of age.

Vincent was born and raised in the Bronx to the late Vincent, Sr. and Carmel (née Iorio).  He lived in Wharton for 30 years and has lived the last 22 years in the Lake Shawnee section of Jefferson Township.

Vincent enlisted in the Navy in 1952 and served his country proudly for two years.

Mr. Conte was a quality control specialist for Walter Kidde, Inc. of Belleville.

He was a longtime member and usher of St. Mary’s Church, Wharton, and the Knights of Columbus. He spent many years as a volunteer at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover. He loved spending time with his family and friends and he was an avid New York Yankees fan.

Mr. Conte was predeceased by his sister Theresa Sander, and his brothers, Richard and Robert.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Loretta, and his 4 children: Margaret and her husband Paul, Vincent III, Philip and his wife Julia, and Theresa Greeley and her husband William.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Julia and Jorin Dawidowicz, John and James Mehrkens , James, Nina, Joseph, and Benjamin Conte.

In addition, he is survived by his sisters Annette Bonomo and Mary Jane Porretta and many loving nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held 4-8pm on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.

A funeral mass will be held 10am on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at St. Mary’s Church, Wharton.

Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mine Hill.
