Thomas Smartt Obituary

Clinton:  It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my brother, Thomas on July 16, 2024 at Hunterdon Development Center, after a short illness.  He was 59 years of age.

Thomas was born on May 19, 1965 in Dover, NJ.  He lived in Madison, NJ and Landing, NJ.  At he age of 10 he moved to Hunterdon Development Center, where he spent the rest of his life.

Tommy will be truly missed and never forgotten.  He was full of laughter and lived his life, loving music and being around people.  Tommy never had the capability of speaking or understanding, but when we all went to visit him, he showed his joy by smiling and making sounds.  His favorite song was "Don't stop me now" by Queen.  Every time he heard that song, he lit up like a Christmas Tree.  And as with all music, Tommy would just bop his head back and forth to the beat.  He is now with the angels listening to all his favorite music.

Predeceased by his mother, Maryann Jennings in 2021 along with his grandparents.

Survived by his father, Robert Smartt and wife Terry of Milton, Florida.

Sister:  Donna Lee Brand and husband Kenneth of Budd Lake, NJ.

Nieces:  Emily Taylor and husband Justin of Landing, NJ.

Lauren Van Hook and fiancé Garrett Smith of Seabrook, NH.

Grand Nieces:  Scarlett & Evalynn Taylor.
