Susan Garcia Obituary

Susan Marie Garcia (Dua), 65, of Budd Lake, cherished and proud wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully after a long illness into the arms of the Lord, at St. Clare’s Dover on Sunday, November 5th surrounded by her family. Sue lived her life with compassion and strength for others and her family was the most important part of her.

Susan was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Passaic on November 12, 1957 before moving to Parsippany where she grew up. She was a 1975 graduate of Parsippany High School and attended St. Peter’s before that. She loved her job as a waitress at Hanover Diner where she met her husband. They were married on November 14, 1981 and moved to Budd Lake in 1984 where she resided until she passed.

After waitressing for many years she was employed by Crum & Forster Insurance Company for almost 40 years. She loved the people at her job and made many good friends and memories through her years there.

Above all, Susan loved her family and valued any time spent with them. She loved cooking and baking, especially Christmas cookies, shopping with her daughter, playing Rummy, watching reality TV, Little House on the Prairie, and Gun Smoke. One of her favorite things to do was prepare holiday meals for her family. Her mashed potatoes were a family favorite. Susan was blessed with three grandchildren whom she loved spoiling rotten with gifts and treats for every visit.

She is predeceased by her parents, Harry and Barbara (Basch) Dua, her sister Linda O’Boyle, her uncle Robert Basch, her father in law José Garcia and her two beloved pups, Daisy and Grace.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, José Alberto, daughter Alyssa Wetzel and her husband Ben, her grandchildren, Audrey, Charlotte and Harrison, her mother in law, Angela Tumaída Garcia, her brothers, Greg and wife Dorene, Ken and partner Cindy, Tom and wife Liz, Mike and wife Andrea, and sisters in law Shari Dua and Carmen Garcia. She was also the aunt to 9 nephews and 2 nieces, Garrison, Doug, Alexís, Perry, Brian, Evan, Tiffany, TJ, Maríana, Martín and Greg. She is also survived by her beloved aunt Ginny and her husband Tom, her cousins, Jim and Karen and husband Dan.
