Wharton: Savarina “Rena” Fournier passed away unexpectedly on December 2, 2023 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover at the age of 73.
Rena was born in New York City to the late John and Rose DiStefano. She grew up in Lincoln Park, graduating from Boonton High School in 1968. She attended Capri Beauty School and worked as a beautician for 15 years where she met her husband Paul, marrying in 1973. Rena left her job to take care of her three children, where she excelled as a homemaker for over 30 years. She eventually returned to the workforce, getting a job at Duffy School in Wharton working in the cafeteria. She made many friends while there and enjoyed being around the children. She has lived in Wharton for the past 50 years.
Rena enjoyed gardening, shopping, and cooking. She mostly enjoyed taking care of her family and being with her friends. She adored her two grandchildren Ava (12) and Jake (9) and loved spending as much time with them as she could. Rena was selfless, always making sure everyone was happy and well cared for. She loved everyone, and everything she did, with all her heart. Many were fortunate to be loved by her and are left with beautiful memories of her. Her precious soul will be dearly missed.
She was predeceased by her husband Paul Fournier and daughter Melissa Desmond.
She is survived by 2 children; Michelle and Michael Fournier and his wife Lori; 2 brothers, Salvatore and wife Arlene, and Joseph and wife Lisa, DiStefano. Many nieces and nephews are also left behind.
Visitation will be held from 1-4pm on Saturday December 9th at Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. A Funeral Service will follow at 4pm at the Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
