Rosario Ruiz Obituary

Wharton, NJ: Rosario “Sara” Ruiz was a loving daughter, sister, mother, wife, and friend.
She peacefully went home with the Lord Jesus in her home on Saturday, March 4, 2023. She was 68 years of age.

Sara was a feisty* Puerto Rican, full of life, who loved to laugh and make others laugh with her witty remarks. Her home was a haven of good food, the best coffee, and lively family gatherings. She earned a cosmetology license in NJ and was gifted in artistic pursuits such as sewing, cake decorating, and garage-sale hunting. Her Victorian-era home décor is evidence of her impeccable taste as was her model-worthy fashion style.

Sara was a fighter until her last breath, and she refused to let sickness have the final say. She, along with her daughter and husband, prayed and battled for her recovery until the end. Especially in her final months, she translated her headstrong personality into a beautiful relationship with Jesus Christ. We have no doubt that Sara is in heaven walking with Jesus and dancing joyfully with the angels.

We find abundant hope in Scripture: “But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first … Therefore encourage one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-16, 18)

Sara was predeceased by her son Evaristo “Papo” Lorenzo, her parents Maria Gonzalez and Manuel Acevedo, and her brother David.

Sara is survived by her husband of 33 years, Jorge Ivan Ruiz, and her daughter Yecenia and son-in-law Alex, grandchildren; Aizess, Jeremias, Sara, and Jacob, sisters; Gina, Celina, Nereida, Fela, Sira, Lucy, and Marisol, brothers; Sergio and Titi, and many other family and friends.

A Visitation to celebrate Sara’s life will be held 6-9pm on Monday, March 13 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10am
on Tuesday, March 14 at St Mary’s Church in Wharton. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery in Dover.
