Ronald "Ron" Messerschmidt

Ronald (“Ron”) Messerschmidt of Oak Ridge, New Jersey passed away on February 12, 2025, at the age of 64, after a battle with ALS. Ron died peacefully in the home which he built over 40 years ago and in which he and his wife Patricia raised their family.

Born on April 16, 1960, Ron grew up in West Milford, New Jersey, and graduated from West Milford High School and, later, Johnson College. He married Patricia in 1980 and the couple went on to raise two children, a son Zachary, and daughter Brielle. A skilled carpenter, Ron operated a successful general contracting business for over 40 years and used those same skills to help numerous friends and family members with their own homes over the years.

Ron lived for the outdoors and you could often find him fishing on the Pequest River or hunting in one of his many tree stands around his home. He loved to share this passion with others and frequently took friends and family members hunting and fishing. When not outdoors, Ron loved to spend time with his family, including taking trips to Atlantic City with Patricia, where he could be found singing on stage with Kenny Rogers, and playing with his grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife Patricia Messerschmidt, son Zachary Messerschmidt and daughter-in-law Jessica Messerschmidt, future grandson, daughter Brielle Kaschak and son-in-law John Kaschak, grandchildren JT and Rosie, father Nicholas Messerschmidt, siblings Tom Messerschmidt, Bruce Messerschmidt, Karin Thomas, and Jean Gold, and countless nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his mother Dorothy Procida. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.

A  Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S Main St, Wharton, NJ 07885.
