Robert Bruce Edwards

Robert Bruce Edwards passed away on September 27th, 2022 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ surrounded by his loving family.  He was 62 years old.

Bruce was born in Morristown, NJ to the late Andrew Grant and Ella Mae Edwards.  He grew up in Morristown and graduated from Morristown High School in 1978 where he then went on to attend Louisville University. 

Bruce was married to his late wife Patricia Edwards for 30 years.  Bruce is survived by his daughter, Jaclyn Bagnall and her husband Russell Bagnall of Wharton, son Bobby Edwards and his wife Ali Edwards of Randolph, siblings; Jack Edwards, Jill Edwards, Andrew Edwards, Valerie Edwards and her spouse Elisa Padilla, Mary Ellen Lloyd and her husband Bill Lloyd, Matthew Edwards and his wife Kori Edwards, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bruce’s pride and joy were his four grandchildren; William and Collin Bagnall and Layla and Charlie Edwards.  Bruce enjoyed spending time with his grandbabies at the beach, shopping for them at Kohl’s, bringing them sweet treats with every visit, and taking pictures with them any chance he could get.  They were the love of his life. Willie and Layla were always excited to see Grandpa walking up the steps to visit them as he never came empty handed.

Bruce was an accomplished swimmer at Morristown High school where he competed at the National level.  He then went on to attend Louisville University.  He also enjoyed coaching Bobby’s Little League teams while he was growing up. If he was not coaching, he never missed a sporting event for his kids. He was a beloved coach to many in Dover sports.

Bruce loved spending time with his family and friends.  He always knew where the best Classic Rock music would be playing in the area.  He loved sunbathing, leaving him with the best tan all year round. He was a man of few words, but had many great one liners.

Visitation will be held 1-3:30pm with a funeral service at 4pm on Saturday, October 1st at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. Repass will be held immediately following at the Lake Shawnee Clubhouse, 4 West Shawnee Trail, Wharton, NJ where we will be celebrating his life. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
