Rockaway Township: Raymond W. Newkirk passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Sunrise of Randolph. He was 91 years of age.
Ray was born in Dover and was raised in Wharton. He lived in Dover most of his life, moving to Rockaway Township inn 2014 after his retirement.
He was a Korean War Army Veteran.
Mr. Newkirk was the Superintendent at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover for 44 years, retiring in 2014.
He was a longtime member of the Dover Fire Department, serving as Chief in 1974. He was also a NJ State Exempt Fireman.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, John Robert Newkirk and Margaret (née LaForge). He also had three siblings who passed; Bobby, Billy & Patricia.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Dolores (née Herrmann).
His dear son, Timothy M. and his wife Mary Beth.
Five Grandchildren: Amanda and her husband Kyle Wheeler.

Ryan Newkirk.
Also survived by his sister Sandi Nagy.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10am on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at St. Mary's Church, Wharton.
Interment will be private.
