Ramona "Mony" Gonzalez Obituary

Ramona “Mony” Gonzalez, born June 17, 1947, in Aguada, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on December 13 at Morristown Memorial Hospital after a courageous and faith-filled battle with cancer. She lived her life grounded in love, devotion, and unwavering belief.

Mony was the beloved wife of Jose “Pedro” Sotelo. Together they shared a life devoted to family, perseverance, and deep commitment to one another. She was a devoted mother who endured the profound loss of her son, David, whom she carried in her heart and prayers always.

She is survived by her loving husband; her eldest son, Llirben “Gilbert”; her daughter-in-law, Heidi; and her cherished granddaughters, Morgan and Lorna, who brought her immeasurable joy and pride. Along with a host of nieces and nephews who will forever remember her warmth, generosity, and loving spirit.

Mony is also survived by her siblings: Celia; Provy; Franco; Maria; Myrna.  She will be joining in everlasting life her deceased parents Francisco “Pancho” and Juana “Ana” as well as her siblings Rosa Lydia “Rosie” and Angel Luis “Guicho”.

A longtime resident of Wharton, New Jersey, Mony was a devout Catholic whose faith guided her through every season of life. In her final days, her wish was simple and heartfelt: prayer—prayer and more prayers. Her trust in God never wavered, and she faced her journey with grace, courage, and hope.

Mony found joy in cooking for her family, listening to music, and dancing—expressions of her vibrant spirit and love of life. Her home was a place of comfort, faith, and togetherness, where everyone was welcomed with love.
