Patricia (Reidy) O'Brien

Rockaway Township:  Patricia Reidy O'Brien, age 92, of Rockaway New Jersey, completed her Earthly Journey the afternoon of December 28, 2022.  Patricia was born July 24, 1930 in Flushing, New York to the Late Jack and Anne Reidy.

Patricia graduated from Flushing High School in 1948. Following graduation, Patricia worked in New York City as a bookkeeper.  In 1950, Patricia married John O'Brien of Flushing, New York and in 1955, Patricia and John moved to Sag Harbor New York where they raised 6 children.

A stay at home Mom, Patricia was best known for the chocolate chip cookies and for administering first aid to the neighborhood children.  Many afternoons in the summer were spent at Long Beach, as long as chores were done!  After her children were grown, Patricia worked for the Pallotine Fathers in North Haven and Schiavoni Plumbing and Heating in Sag Harbor. Patricia was a long-standing member of the Sag Harbor American Legion Auxiliary.

In 2003 Patricia moved to Rockaway New Jersey to be closer to her daughter, Colleen.

Patricia enjoyed playing cards and board games as well as doing jigsaw puzzles and reading.

Patricia was predeceased by her parents, husband John, sisters Kay Petri, Nancy(Joseph) Batky and brother Jack(Mary) Reidy and one son -in -law, James McGowin.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Colleen(Richard)Stafford and Kathleen McGowin, sons Timothy(Waver), John(Betty Anne), Steve and Patrick(Sharon) O'Brien. 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and one Brother-in-law Dan(Eleanor) O'Brien.

There will be a celebration of life on January 5th,2023 at 10 am at Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, 204 Espanong Road, Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey 07849. Patricia's family would like to thank The Hospice Team of Atlantic Visiting Nurses and her caregiver Oretha for their exceptional care.
