Mt. Hope: Patricia “Patty” Machuga, 81, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at St. Clare’s Hospital/Denville surrounded by loved ones.
Patty was born in Morristown and was raised in the St. Mary section of Wharton before moving to Mt. Hope in 1963.
Patty was a restaurant manager for The Camelot Inn of Denville and The Hotel Clarendon of Hackettstown. For the rest of her career, she worked as a purchasing agent for Denville Township for 21 years, before retiring in 2006.
She was a member of St. Bernard RC Church, Mt. Hope and an active member of the St. Cecilia Senior Group of Rockaway Boro.
Patty enjoyed bowling, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with her family at the Shore. She also enjoyed her fun times with the St. Cecilia seniors.
Predeceased by her parents, Raymond & Catherine Foster as well as her sister Judith Barzano.
Survived by her beloved children:
Deborah Wawzyanick and husband Bernie of Dagsboro, DE.
Sandra Hayes and husband Kevin of Wharton.
Stephen Machuga and wife Kathy of Wharton.
Six grandchildren: Erika Puskas (Mike), Bernard Wawzyanick (Kim), Matthew Hayes (Abigail), Rachel Hayes, Stephen & Ryan Machuga.
Three great grandchildren: Evelyn & Jolene Puskas, Nathan Wawzyanick.
Former husband and friend Charles Machuga.
Also survived by many cherished nieces & nephews.
A funeral mass will be held 11am on Monday, April 5, 2021 at St. Bernard RC Church, St. Bernard Road, Wharton, NJ 07885.
Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mine Hill.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s memory to Morris County Nutrition Program, 340 W. Hanover Ave., Morristown, NJ 07960 would be appreciated.
