Mine Hill Township: Our beloved Nancy Samanns passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at her home. She was 70 years of age.
Nancy was born in Dover and raised in Wharton before moving to Mine Hill in 2005. She was a graduate of Morris Hills High School and had an accounting degree from County College of Morris.
She started her career right out of high school as an office worker for McGregor Doniger of Dover. She also worked at Hertz Rental in Parsippany before moving expanding her career in Collections at Casio of Dover, retiring in 2022.
Nancy was an active parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, Wharton. She also belonged to the Wharton Seniors. She enjoyed traveling and the company of friends and family (in the right doses). You could count on Nancy to be a straight shooter and to tell it like it was, emulating the old west cowboys she adored. Generous, thoughtful, honest, impatient, always in motion and stubborn when it mattered just begins to describe her. Though she was something different to each of us who knew her, she loved us all in a unique way.
Predeceased by her parents, Alphonse J. “Al” Samanns, Sr. and Helen Kathryn (née Miller).
Survived by her siblings:
Kathryn L. Samanns of Wharton.
John Samanns and his wife Bettina of Allamuchy.
Edward Samanns and his wife Sarah of Newton.
Also survived by six nieces and nephews: Cris, Nate, Ben, Hannah, Trevor and Connor, and her beloved dog Riley.
Visitation will be held 4 to 7pm on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10am on Friday, June 13, 2025 at St. Mary’s Church, Wharton.
Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s memory to St. Mary’s Church, Wharton or to Fr. Johns Animal Rescue would be appreciated.
