Michael J. Gloria, 69, of Wharton, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 11, 2021. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Michael was a 1970 graduate of Morris Catholic High School in Denville.
Often affectionately known as “Otis” by his friends, he attended the Newark College of Engineering, where for two years he excelled as an ice hockey defenseman, known for his bone- crushing hits, before working at the Givaudan Corporation.
Michael also owned and operated North Jersey Custom Cycle motorcycle shop in Haskell, N.J. in the 1980s. Michael loved fast motorcycles and fast boats — appropriate for a man with such a quick wit. In his later years, Michael loved entertaining and was always the life of the party.
Michael was predeceased by his wife of 23 years, Joann (Roe), and his stepson Robert Roe. He is survived by his 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph (Clare) of Virginia Beach, V.A., Stephen (Lisa) of Mount Arlington, N.J., and Mark (Kim), of Sparta, N.J., his uncle and aunt Vincent and Jean, of Lake Hopatcong, N.J., his stepchildren Michael, Gary, and Darlene, as well as numerous adoring nieces and nephews, who will always cherish their Uncle Mike’s unique personality and approach to life.
Visitation Friday, December 17, 2021, 4pm-7pm at Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St, Wharton, N.J. Interment will be private at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association. Offer condolences at www.BerminghamFH.com
