Michael C. "Mickey" Doboney passed away peacefully on Monday November 17,2025 surrounded by loved ones. He was 80 years old.
Mickey was born in Dover, NJ, spent most of his life in Wharton before moving to South Jersey in 1997.
Mickey was a proud Air Force Vietnam Veteran and an active member of the Wharton American Legion Post 91, where he previously served as a member of the color guard.
A dedicated public servant, Mickey served as a Wharton Police Officer for 25 years, retiring in 1995. He then owned and operated Michael C. Doboney Private Investigations in Lavallette for 12 years, until he fully retired 2008 to enjoy what he loved most, golfing and fishing.
He was also a charter member, past president, and secretary of the Wharton FOP Lodge #24.
He is survived by his two daughters, Denise and her husband John Costello and Julie; his beloved grandchildren, David Phelan and his wife Alison, Heather and her husband Brian Cronin, Kaitlyn, and Tyler; and his great-grandchildren, Luke, Maddie, and Beau. He is also survived by his sister, Julia Bolcar, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 19, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at American Legion Post 91 in Wharton, NJ. All who knew and loved Mickey are welcome to join in honoring his memory.
