Mary A. (Skewes) Lopes

Jefferson Twp.:     Mary A. Lopes passed away peacefully on May 18, 2022 at Morristown Medical Center. She was 89 years of age.

Mary was born in Dover to the late William and Agnes Skewes and raised in Wharton.  She has lived in the Lake Hopatcong section of Jefferson Twp. for the past 60 years.  She worked as a Technical Manual Writer at Picatinny Arsenal for 42 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Julio Lopes and sisters; Dorothy and Joan.

She is survived by her son Gary Lopes and his wife Margo of Lake Hopatcong, daughter Sharon Victori and her husband Alfred of SC, 3 grandchildren; Julie, Lauren and Michael, 2 great-grandchildren Serena and Lochlain, brothers; William and Butch and sister Shirley.

Visitation will be held 4-7pm on Monday May 23, at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.  A Funeral Mass will be held 10am on Tuesday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Lake Hopatcong. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery in Dover.
