Mary (Kearney) Fordney

Jefferson Twp.:   Life holds many facets and this earth is only one. Mary Kearney Fordney, continued her journey when she passed away on May 20, 2026. She was 64 years of age. 

Mary was born on July 14th 1961 in Grove City, Pennsylvania, to Brian and Sarah Kearney. She graduated from Grove City Area High School in 1979 and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, concentrating in Home Economics, from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1983. She worked for many years in the banking industry, rising to positions in advanced research for financial industries. Mary excelled in her administrative role and was skilled in assisting her investment clients. 

Mary enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, music, boating, and walking in nature. She cherished her 2 children, Matthew and Shannon, her 2 beautiful grandchildren and loved spending time with her large family. She especially enjoyed annual family vacations and sister trips. Mary jumped in when help was needed, joined in when fun was needed, spoke up when advice or decisions were needed, cooked something yummy when food was needed and gave soft loving support when comfort was needed. Her sweet spirit and kindness were enjoyed by all who knew her. 

She was preceded in death by Jonathan Robert Fordney, and her son Matthew.

She is survived by her daughter Shannon Fordney, her parents Brian and Sally Kearney, brothers Brian Kearney (Debbie) and Kevin Kearney, sisters Kate Geiger (Bill), Patricia Kruck (Jeffrey), Maureen Stalker (Paul), Colleen Snyder (Chuck, deceased), her beloved grandchildren Avery and Graham Scheyer, as well as a long time friend and companion Carl Peterson. She also will be missed by her extended family of many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. 

A visitation is planned for Saturday, May 30, 2026, 1:00pm - 3:00pm at the Bermingham Funeral Home located at 216 South Main Street in Wharton, New Jersey. A memorial service will follow.
