Marlene Caljean Obituary

Marlene Caljean of Lake Hopatcong passed away quietly at her home surrounded by family on Wednesday April 28, 2021.  She was 88 years of age.

Marlene was born in Blue Moon, Kentucky and moved to New Jersey with her family when she was young.  In Dover New Jersey she met her husband of 63 years, Anthony.  They lived and started their lives and family in Dover and then moved to Lake Hopatcong in the late 1950’s where they were proprietors of Cal’s Mountain Inn, and then A.R.C. Liquors.    She held many jobs and did many things throughout her life but was best at being “Gram” & “Mom”.

Marlene and her husband used to enjoy spending days at the beach laying in the sun or driving around spending their time together.  As life moved on, she could be found watching her “shows” and her westerns.  She found joy in spending time with her family, visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, lunches with her nieces and phone calls with everyone.  There was always happiness in spending time with family celebrating life, especially when those celebrations ended with laughter, hugs and of course a cup of coffee with a slice of cake.

Marlene was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Anthony Robert Caljean, Sr. and her son Anthony Robert Caljean Jr. Her parents Parker & Sally (Hall) Williams and siblings, Jocie, LB, Maglene, Lucretia (Pat), Henry, Lilburne (Chick) Milford, Minnie and Lucy.

Marlene is survived by, her children, Patricia (Caljean) Pinck, Joseph Caljean & Melina Caljean, her daughter-in-law Susan Caljean, her sister Laura Schlipf, and many nieces and nephews.

Marlene’s legacy is being survived by her Grandchildren, Adam & Pravitha Caljean, Anthony Snavely, Mary (Caljean) & David Podesta, Noah & Eleanor Pinck, Alison (Pinck) & Kevin Bratcher, Anthony Caljean & Chanel Lepone, and Patricia Caljean.  Her Great-Granchildren, Anthony & Romayne Snavely, Frank, Lucas & Madelyn Podesta, Rhys Caljean, Madison & Matthew Bratcher, Mira, Acacia & Clover Pinck and that her love and life continues with them.

Visitation will be held 4-7pm on Friday April, 30 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.  A Funeral Mass will be held 9:30 on Saturday at Sacred Heart Church in Dover.  Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery in Dover.
