Marjorie Lewis Gimler, 99, of Mt. Arlington, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, at home. She was the loving wife of the late John Robert Gimler, Sr., who passed away in 1989. They shared 34 years of marriage.
Born in Wharton, NJ, Marjorie was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Casey) Lewis. Marjorie was a graduate of Wharton High School and All Souls Nursing School in Morristown, NJ. During her long service as a registered nurse, Marjorie worked in hospitals, physician practices, and long term care facilities. She kept her nursing license active well into her 80s. Marjorie also volunteered as a reading tutor for elementary school students and as a compassionate caregiver for animal welfare agencies. She held a special place in her heart for the most vulnerable among us, particularly children and animals.
Above all else, Marjorie will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her three children and their spouses, John Robert Gimler, Jr. (Carol), Daniel Lewis Gimler (Dixie), and Jennifer Gimler Brady (Bob); four grandchildren, Kierstin Gimler Peabody (Ryan), Jordan Gimler (Jamie), Sean Brady, and Reagan Brady; and five great-granddaughters. She also is survived by her sister, Betty Spilman, six nephews, and several grand nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents and husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by four siblings, Velma, Dorothy, William, and Jack, and several extended family members.
Visitation will be held 10am-12pm on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main Street, Wharton NJ, 07885. A Funeral Service will be held at 12pm. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover, NJ.
