Marilyn (Rhodes) George

Rockaway:  Marilyn George passed away peacefully at Excel Care of Dover on Thursday, February 23, 2023.  She was 91 years of age.

Marilyn was born in Copperhill, TN and lived most of her life in Rockaway.

Mrs. George worked as a cashier in the Cafeteria at Dennis B. O'Brien Elementary School, Rockaway Twp for over 30 years, retiring in 1985.

She was an active, lifelong parishioner of SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, Rockaway.

She enjoyed bowling with the church league and ceramic arts when she wasn’t traveling and camping the USA with her husband Tony.

Predeceased by her husband Tony in 2019.

Survived by:

Two sons:   Thomas and wife Nancy of Rockaway Twp. and their four children: Jennifer Ptaszynski (Steve), Zachary (Erika), Darren & Gregory (Cassie).

                   David and wife Carlene of Rockaway Twp. and their two children:  Sean (Dominique Lopez) & Alyssa Reilly (Terrence).

Five Great Grandchildren:  Hunter, Hudson, Walter, Henry & Aidan.

Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 4-8pm on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.

A funeral service will be held 10am on Thursday at SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 66 Beach St., Rockaway.

Interment will follow at the Rockaway Presbyterian Cemetery, Rockaway.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marilyn’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
