It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Luis Orlando Guerra, a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Luis departed this life on November 23, 2025, at the age of 89, in Parsippany, New Jersey, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Born on November 12, 1936, in Armero, Colombia, Luis was the cherished son of Pedro Rubio and Ines Guerra. From his early years, he exhibited a zest for life and a thirst for knowledge that would shape the course of his journey in the years to follow. Luis was not only a talented photographer and journalist in his youth, capturing the essence of life through his lens and words, but he also dedicated many years of his professional life to Thatcher Glass Manufacturing in Wharton, New Jersey, where his work ethic and friendly demeanor left a lasting impression on his colleagues.

Luis was a man of many interests and hobbies. He found joy in the strategic challenges of playing dominoes and chess, often bringing family and friends together for spirited games. A true lover of literature, Luis spent countless hours immersed in books, and his passion for futbol was evident as he cheered for his favorite teams with unwavering enthusiasm. His intelligent, friendly, and well-mannered nature made him a beloved figure not just within his family, but in the community as well. Luis was always ready to lend a helping hand, placing the needs of others before his own, a trait that endeared him to many.

Luis is survived by his six devoted children: Jorge Guerra, Henry Guerra, Freddy Guerra, Sandra Guerra, Orlando Guerra, and Xiomara Guerra, who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. His family also includes his cherished siblings: Fanny Lastra, Belen Rubio Guerra, Wilson Rubio Guerra, Dahiro Rubio Guerra, and Ivan Rubio Guerra, along with his brother-in-law, Manny Lastra. He was a proud uncle to his nephew, James Lastra, and niece, Jennifer Lastra, and a loving grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.

Luis was preceded in death by his dear brother, Eduardo Perez, with whom he shared many wonderful memories. His absence is felt deeply by all who loved him.
