Jefferson Township: Lois Csengeto, 77, of Lake Hopatcong, died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 8.
Lois was born in Teaneck, N.J. and was the daughter of Roy and Hilda Vickery. Growing up, she was the middle child between her oldest sister, Helen, and youngest sister, Carolyn. Upon graduating high school and getting a job, she met the love of her life and was married soon after. Lois and Julius were married on January 21, 1967 and spent most of their 55 years of marriage living in Lake Hopatcong. She raised their three children and once they were older, got a job in the Morris County Court House, where she served as a Jury Selection Officer for the county.
She loved birds, planting flowers in the her garden, crocheting and knitting, going to the lake in the summer months, going to the flea markets on Sundays, crossword puzzles, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Golden Girls, talking to her sisters nightly on the computer, and coffee with her neighbors, Igne and Pam.
Lois is predeceased by her husband, Julius, and is survived by their three children; Andrew and his wife, Kelly, and their two children, Brianna and Robert; Julie Anne, and her two children, Madison and Kiley; and Chris and his wife, Bethany, and their three children, Lucas, Emily, and Rhys; her sisters, Helen, of Arizona; and Carolyn and her husband, John, of Georgia; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main Street, Wharton.
A short prayer service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home immediately after the visitation.
Interment at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover will follow.
Her loving sons and daughters-in-law request that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org to honor her memory. Her sudden death should remind us all that life should not be taken for granted and that in the wake of her passing, she will be sorely missed.
