Lillian A. Wojy, born and raised in Dickson City, Pennsylvania, passed away at the age of 99.
She married her husband, Conrad A. Wojy, the love of her life, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage and the cherished, beautiful life they built together. They lived in Dickson City near their family before moving to Mine Hill, New Jersey, where she raised her family for over 60 years.
Lillian was predeceased by her husband Conrad Wojy, her parents Eva and John Krushinski, her brothers Joseph and John Krushinski, her beloved grandmother Agatha, and her son-in-law Charles “Chuck” Rutcosky.
She is survived by her children: daughter Deborah "Debbie" W. Rutcosky, daughter Cindy Trowbridge and her husband Bill, and her son Conrad "Butch" Wojy. Her cherished grandchildren include Stephen Rutcosky and his girlfriend Amanda, Nicole Ciafardini and her husband Alex, Adam Wojy and his wife Naveen, Stacy Ensley and her husband Bruce, and Tom Wojy. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Jett and Vaida. Lillian is further survived by her Krushinski nieces and nephews.
Lillian lived an incredibly full life, known for her spry and witty spirit well into her 90s, still enjoying her books and conversations. She loved fishing and going out on the boat with her husband and cherished family trips back to Dickson City. She also enjoyed taking her grandchildren on trips, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Family time and holidays were what she valued most, specially sharing recipes, traditions, and stories about time spent with her husband and family, and the trips they went on. She was deeply involved in the lives of her 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, always showing up to celebrate every milestone. Lillian was an avid Penn State and Yankees fan, who could always be found with a cup of hot tea in hand, reading a good book or sitting outside enjoying the fresh air. Her favorite place to visit was Sandy Hook beach, where she earned the nickname "Saltwater Lil" for her love of the ocean. She was known for her strength, determination, and ability to engage anyone in a good conversation, often sharing stories from her life memories or the latest news.
Lillian pursued her nursing degree and spent many years as a registered nurse at Dover General Hospital and also working in private duty. Her dedication and compassion were evident in the care she provided, and she was a beloved figure in the hospital community.
Known to her grandchildren and many others as "Nana," Lillian’s family was her world. We feel incredibly lucky and blessed to have had her in our lives for so long, and her memory will forever live in our hearts.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, case manager and aides at Dover General Hospital and Kindred Hospital for their dedicated care. Private family services will be held in her honor.
In Lillian’s memory, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
