Katherine (Ruiz) Dunn

Green Township: Katherine Dunn (Ruiz) passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at home with her family by her side. She was 60 years of age.

Katherine was born in Dover and raised in Rockaway Township. She has lived in Green Township for the past 20 years.

Mrs. Dunn was a Morris County Park Police Officer for 20 years, retiring around 2005. She was currently working for Seton Hall University in security. When she wasn’t working, she volunteered for Fr. John’s Animal House in Lafayette, NJ.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Dover, the PBA Local 264, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 278 of Stanhope.

Katherine had a zest for life and a heart full of love. She enjoyed spending time with her family in their backyard pool and cherished traveling the world, always eager to experience new cultures and places. Known for speaking her mind with honesty and conviction, Katherine was as loyal as they come — a fiercely devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend.

Predeceased by her parents; John Ruiz and Lucia Ruiz(Albensi) and her baby nephew, Anthony.

Survived by her husband Edward of 35 years.

Three Children: Sierra, Sean & Kyle all of Green Township.

Four Siblings: Mary Ann Ruiz of Fredon, Victor Ruiz of Broadheadsville, PA, Susan Ruiz of Rockaway, and John Ruiz of Byram.

Also survived by her beloved pets: Princess Snowflake, Ollie & Lady-Piper.

Visitation will be held 3–7pm on Tuesday, May 27th at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.

A funeral mass will be held 10am on Wednesday, May 28th at Sacred Heart Church, 4 Richards Avenue, Dover, NJ 07801.

Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover.
