Jefferson Township: Julius Csengeto, 83, of Lake Hopatcong, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Feb. 17, peacefully at home.
Julius was born in Csorna, Hungary, and the son of Eszter and Gyula Csengeto. Julius, like thousands of others, fled the country during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. He and his family fled to Belgium before coming to the United States in 1961, through the efforts of his late, older brother, Bela, and the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, in Florham Park.
Julius worked at Gate of Heaven Cemetery for 39 years before retiring. He then spent his time watching John Wayne movies, listening to Elvis Presley music, and cheering on the Mets.
Julius is survived by his wife of Lois, of 55 years and his three children; Andrew and his wife, Kelly, and their two children, Brianna and Robert; Julie Anne, and her two children, Madison and Kiley; and Chris and his wife, Bethany, and their three children, Lucas, Emily, and Rhys; his sister, Irma “Eve” and husband, Jeno, his brother, Laszlo, and wife, Linda, and their respective families.
Visitation will be held 10-12 Noon on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.
A short prayer service will be held 12 Noon at the funeral home immediately after the visitation.
Interment at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover will follow.
