John Godley Obituary

John Marshall Godley passed away unexpectedly, on March 13, 2022 at the age of 40.

John was born on October 7, 1981 in Dover, New Jersey to his parents Joan Blume and John Godley.

John grew up in Rockaway Township, NJ and was involved in many sports such as baseball, basketball and his all-time favorite sport, football. During his sophomore year he moved to Lake Hopatcong where he finished high school and completed coursework at Sussex Community College. His passion for learning did not stop there, he spent many days working on his paralegal certification and had a deep interest in 8th - 13th century historical studies.

John was a loving husband, father, son, grandson and brother. John had an amazing sense of humor that brought laughs from a diverse network. He never passed judgement and was a kind soul to all walks of life. He was the type of guy who would give you the shirt off his back. John had a knack for the arts, mainly fine metal, much of his work in construction can be seen throughout NJ. He quickly reverted back to childhood when around his sons. John could be found huddled around the TV playing video games, watching Marvel films or reading one of the many books in his collection.

John is survived by his sons John & Zander of Lake Ariel, PA. Jesse & Jayden of Rockaway Township, NJ. Grandmother Patricia Monks of Oak Ridge, mother Joan Blume of Rockaway Township, brother Joshua of Oak Ridge, sisters Amanda Pearce & Tim Pearce of Hoboken, Samantha Hoehn & James Hoehn of Rockaway Township. Many aunts, uncles & an abundant amount of cousins.

John is predeceased by beloved wife Danielle (Galarza), his father John Godley of Smithfeild Township, PA and his stepfather Frederick Blume of Rockaway Township, NJ.
