Janet May (Hulka) Nees

Janet passed away, Saturday July 3rd, 2021, at home surrounded by family after a short illness. Janet was born April 26th, 1932 to Louis and Edith May Hulka (Tranter) in New York. Raised in Teaneck New Jersey and graduating from Teaneck High School in 1950. Janet went on to nursing school and graduated Englewood Hospital Nursing School in 1953. Also, in 1953 Janet married William (Bill) Nees. In 1960 Janet and Bill moved to Wharton. Janet worked as a labor and delivery nurse for over 40 years at St. Clare's Hospital Denville/Dover. She retired in 1998 after delivering numerous local children. Janet was also a part time school nurse for Wharton public school's as well as helping run the family gas station on Main Street.

Janet also loved to travel, go to the casino and play the slots as well as spend time with her family.  She is predeceased by her parents Louis and Edith Hulka, daughter Linda, brother Harold (Hal) Hulka and husband of 61 years Bill Nees. 

Janet is survived by her children Bill Nees Jr. and his partner Sony, Kathy Nees and Kurt Nees and his wife Carol, grandchildren Leanne Nees and her partner Nick, Jimmy Nees, Kurt Nees Jr. and Emily DeSantiago.

A Memorial Visitation will be held 6-8pm on Thursday July 8th, at the Bermingham Funerl Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.  Interment will be private.
