James Thomas Ryan, Sr.

Jefferson Twp.:  James T. Ryan, Sr. passed away at home with his family at his side on Sunday, November 11, 2018.  He was 94 years of age.

James was born in Rockaway and lived his entire life in the Lake Hopatcong section of Jefferson Twp.

Mr. Ryan was a Program Analyst at Picatinny Arsenal for37 years, retiring in 1983.

He was an US Army WWII Veteran, serving in the Pacific.

James was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church and a proud, lifelong member of the American Legion, William H. Flatt, Jr., Post 245 of Lake Hopatcong.

He loved art and was a self-taught artist.  He watching Judge Judy and Law and Order religiously and was an avid sports fan of the NY Yankees and the NY Giants.

Predeceased by his wife Lillian in 1985 and his son James, Jr. in 2009.

Survived by four Daughters:

Kathleen Ackerman and husband Hank of Lake Hopatcong.

Shirley Jordon and husband Pete of Stroudsburg, PA.

Jean Brown and husband Ron of Johnsonburg, NJ.

Colleen Runne of Lake Hopatcong.

Step-Son:  Kevin Schneider of Hopatcong.

Brother; Richard of CO. and his Daughter-In-Law, Lynn Ryan of Tannersville, PA.

Also survived by 12 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 4-7pm on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.

A funeral service will be held 10am on Thursday at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover.

In lieu of flowers, donations in James’s memory to American Legion Post 245, 210 Espanone Rd., Lake Hopatcong, NJ 07849 would be appreciated.
