James Albert Guardino

Lake Shawnee:  James Albert Guardino, raised in North Bergen, formerly of Caldwell, passed away on June 25th, 2020 at the age of 73.

He attended Saint Peter’s Prep, and graduated from Saint Peter’s College in 1968.  After serving as a Parole Officer in NYC, he moved back to New Jersey to begin a 30+ year career in Civil Service, retiring as a Supervising Appeals Examiner of Unemployment and Disability Insurance for the State of New Jersey. He retired with his wonderful wife, to the idyllic lake community of Lake Shawnee, NJ.

A consummate scholar, his love of History, Poetry, Chess and reading in general was quite evident for anyone that visited and saw his countless stacks of books.  During his retirement, he discovered a deep and abiding passion for archery. Jim loved sharing his knowledge, teaching not only his grandchildren but also holding classes for the Weehawken Recreation department.

He is survived by his wife Irene Guardino nee Jacquemin, his three sons James, William and Joseph and their wives Jennifer, Rebecca, and Maryellen. He was loved by his five grandchildren Julia, Alexander, Ryan, Will, and Robert.

A memorial visitation will be held 12 Noon to 1:30pm on Saturday, June 27th, 2020 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton followed by a 1:30pm funeral service at the funeral home.

Interment will be private.
