Ivan Ferrari Obituary

With profound sorrow, Ivan R. Ferrari, fondly known as the “long, white-haired guy” in Dover, departed on March 6, 2024 surrounded by his cherished family.  Ivan was a loving person, brother, father, grandfather and uncle who always made sure everyone was happy, cracking his jokes, and always there to help anyone, including chauffeuring his beloved grandchildren and neighborhood kids from school.

He was dependable in his daily interactions with people he knew throughout the community which made him loved by so many.  Whenever someone needed help with a problem, big or small, Ivan was there to lend a helping hand.  Barry’s Luncheonette was where you would always find Ivan working and enjoying the Dover community which he loved so much.  Ivan was always grateful and indebted to all the people who helped at Barry’s including Mary, Norberto, Daniel, Facundo, Ana Laura, Teti, Pablo, Christian, Fernando and Nico.

Ivan is survived by his adoring Carolina, who was also his business partner and together they continued the legacy of Barry’s Café and Restaurant as the friendly, family-oriented establishment it is today.  He leaves behind two daughters, Daniela and Paula, who he loved with all his heart; Gaston, his devoted son-in-law, who was his buddy for many years and never missed a day of watching TV together and loved and held each other in such high esteem; his brother, Sergio, with whom he enjoyed watching basketball and soccer games and talking politics and his wife, Ana Cecilia; his grandchildren Joel, Yarelli and Nicole, who he treasured with unwavering love; his nieces, Adriana, Karla and Amy and their spouses Yilmaz, Nia and Alex; his nephews, Raul and Stephen; his great-niece Olivia and her beautiful smile; his great-nephews Arel, his remote control fixer and Tino, his famous Tik Tok-er; his cousins Ariel, Miriam, Sylvia and Maria Eugenia; his mother and father-in-law, Marion and Miguel; his brother-in-law, Emiliano who he loved like a son; his three godsons, Fernando, Kevin and Hernan; and last but not least, his best friend since childhood, Hugo.

Ivan was predeceased by his parents, Raul and Pola Ferrari, his brother Boris, who he loved unconditionally; his aunt Christina and her son/his cousin, Pablo, who enjoyed the casino as much as Ivan did; and, his favorite sister-in-law, Martha, who he loved squeezing her ears and making her laugh.

Thank you to all the heart-felt condolences and inspiring messages we have received … from the “such a nice and extraordinary friend” to “gracias por todo lo que le brindo al pueblo de Dover” to “so sad he was a Really Nice Guy” to “fue un Gran amigo” and all the way from Chile, “Fue un hombre muy jovial de gran corazón, un buen amigo y muy querido en el pueblo” … and so many more which have made this process a little bit easier.

He will be missed, but his presence in our hearts will keep us until we see him again, our beloved Ivan.
