Irene Liu of Rockaway NJ died peacefully at home on November 10th. She would have celebrated her 100th birthday on December 24th.
Irene was born in Hong Kong. She and her husband Ho Liu legally immigrated from China to the United States after the end of WW2. They lived in the Washington DC area for many years before relocating to New Jersey in the late 1990's. Irene and her husband lived the American dream. While her husband was a very successful businessman Irene worked in the "Nationalist Chinese Embassy" in Washington DC. Irene was a great cook of Chinese cuisine and loved to play mahjong.
Irene was predeceased by her husband Ho and her son Jefferson. She is survived by her daughter Yvonne McLagan (James) of Randolph and many nieces and nephews along with the many friends she had made at the Fox Hills Community in Rockaway.
Funeral services are private through the Bermingham Funeral Home in Wharton.
Interment will be at the Parklawn Cemetery, Rockville, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Irene's name.
