Mine Hill: Herman Hoopes passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at St. Clare’s Hospital/Denville. He was 82 years of age. Born in Elizabeth and raised in Metuchen, NJ, he attended college in West Virginia. After some time in the south he settled down in Mine Hill, NJ where he lived for 54 years.
As Director of Personnel for Morris County, where he met his beloved wife Kathleen, he retired in 2002 after 28 years. He enjoyed traveling, collecting and restoring antiques, and could always be found patiently tinkering on something in his workshop. His family remembers his love of history, his dedication to his family, but most of all his kindness, charm, and easy sense of humor. For that he will always be missed.
Predeceased by his parents, Herman and Hazel (née Worthylake) and his daughter Katherine.
Survived by his wife Kathleen of 34 years and four Children: his daughter, Dana; his son Daniel and his wife Grace, his son Kevin and wife Hailey, his daughter Casey and fiancé Leo. Also survived by three Grandchildren: Fynn, Erin & Christopher as well as his beloved dog, Quinton.
Private Services were held on Saturday, November 5th.
