Jefferson Township: Henry was born in Jersey City in 1940 to Henry and Rita (nee Gorman) Milkewicz. He was a graduate of St. Michael's High School in Jersey City, NJ, where he had received an athletic scholarship. Henry was named an All-Hudson County football player while at St. Michael's, and was a natural athlete who also excelled at basketball, track, and baseball. He retained his love of sports throughout his lifetime, and continued to be an avid jogger and swimmer into his later years.
Henry was very proud to have served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, and remained a Marine in his heart for life. After serving four years and three months he left the military and returned to Saint Peter's University to complete a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics.
Henry began his successful Wall Street career in Finance at Bank of New York as a portfolio manager, then managing Pension and Retirement Funds for national and international corporations at U.S. Trust Company.
Henry was married to his sweetheart, Carol (nee Bernas) for 59 happy years. He moved from North Bergen to Jefferson Township, where with Carol, they raised a family. He is now survived by his wife, Carol; daughters Pamela, and her husband Larry Gooen; Leanne, and her husband, Richard Belar; and daughter Susan.
He was blessed with grandchildren Brittany, and her husband Brandon Gehm; grand-daughter Katherine Sutton; Richard Henry Belar, and wife Gina; and grand-daughter, Juliana Belar.
Great-grandchildren followed when Jacob and Connor Gehm were born.
Henry is also survived by his beloved sister Helen Astarita and her husband Gary, along with many nieces and nephews.
Henry was a devout Catholic and served many years as a Catechist and Eucharistic minister at Our Lady Star of The Sea Church in Lake Hopatcong, NJ.
Services will be held for immediate family only, and a Celebration of Life, Memorial and Mass will be held in the Spring of 2022.
