Frances B. Luke, formerly of Wharton, N.J. passed away on June 14, 2020, at the age of 82. She most recently resided in Summerville, S.C. where she had lived for the past 6 years.
Born in Carbondale, PA. on March 12, 1938, “Frankie” was the daughter of the late Francis and Grace McGovern. She attended St. Michael’s High School in Newark, N.J. and leaves behind 2 adoring sisters, Ann Marie Granahan, and Mary Grace Kessler, who still both reside in N.J.
After taking care of her children and being a stay at home mom, Frankie reentered the work field by becoming a bank teller for Charter Bank in Wharton. She then moved on to become the tax collector for the towns of Wharton and subsequently Dover. In May of 2001 she retired from the Dover position to spend more time with her family. She and her now deceased husband, Frank Luke, relocated to Murrells Inlet, S.C. in 2004. They had always been active members of St. Mary’s Church in Wharton where they formed many life-long friendships. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and will always be remembered as a warm-hearted, kind and giving person. Frankie loved playing cards and working on jigsaw puzzles.
Frankie is survived by her 4 children and their families: Jim Luke and wife Donna with their 3 children, Taylor Luke Nethaway (married to Josh Nethaway), Derek, and Michael Luke; Steve Luke and wife Adrianna with their 2 children Melanie and Ryan Luke; Terri Luke Gardner and husband Dave with their 2 children Lindsay Gardner Hartmann (married to Joe Hartmann, and 2 great grandchildren – Brynley and Kyle), and Megan Gardner; and Barbara Luke Abromavage and her 2 children Samantha and Matthew Abromavage. Frankie also has numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved like her own. She was blessed to have a large, loving family who enjoyed getting together as frequently as possible.
