Douglas Owen Huron

Lake Hopatcong:  Douglas Owen Huron passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Morristown Medical Center.  He was 82 years of age.

Douglas was one of nine children born to the late Frank Joseph Huron and Alice Ella Biehler in Nutley, NJ.  He was raised there and spent every summer with his family at Longwood Lake in Jefferson.  He has been a Lake Hopatcong resident for over 58 years, and loved his bungalow in the woods. 

Mr. Huron was an expert Machinist at various NJ Companies, and had his own Excavating company, Huron Excavating, for several years.

Douglas was very mechanically inclined and loved fixing anything, including cars, motorcycles, and boats as a hobby and necessity.

He is survived by his four children:

Warren Huron.

Diana Thompson and her husband Paul & their children, Richard and Kristie.

Keith Huron and his wife Melody & their children, Jacob and Joshua.

Neil Huron.

A memorial gathering will be held 12 Noon to 1:30pm on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton, NJ, followed by a short service from 1:30pm to 2:00pm at this location.
