Jefferson Twp.: Dolores Cooper-Laurora was born August 5th, 1951 in Newark, NJ to Joan and Frank Cooper. November 12, 2021 Dolores lost her battle with cancer at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover, NJ.
Dolores graduated from St. Vincent’s Academy and later studied at Newark State College. Dolores worked for Morris County Photo labs and then 16 years as an accounting manager with Morristown Housing Authority.
Dolores leaves behind her husband, James M. Laurora, her sister and brothe- in-law, Joanie and Peter Harvey, her niece and nephew-in-law, Lisa and Matty Carey, her nephew and niece-in-law, Peter and Stacy Harvey and her step-daughter Suzanne DeFrance. She also leaves behind great nephews, a great niece, a step-granddaughter and many cousins and friends.
Dolores was a devout Catholic and an avid reader. She kept a running list of books that she’d read so that she didn’t re-read anything. She loved her plants and often kept her house looking like a jungle. She loved her ‘critters’, she loved country music, she loved British dramas, she loved everything Hallmark (as anyone on her Christmas list would know), she loved Chardonnay. Most importantly she loved her family. Up until her illness, she could always be counted on to be there for any family event. She was generous to a fault. She was a self-proclaimed, “pain in the butt”. A “pain in the butt” that we’re all going to miss dearly.
A memorial visitation will be held 5-6:30pm on Friday, November 19th at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton NJ. A funeral service will be held at 6:30pm. Interment will be private.
