It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved
Grandmother (lovingly called “Babci” by all who knew her), Czeslawa Bachryj, on
Saturday July 6th, 2024. She was 88 years old.
Born on October 4, 1935 in Poland, Babci lived a hard but full and vibrant life. She
was the loving wife of Eugene (known lovingly as Dziadziu), who predeceased her
by 25 years. After only two days of being together, Babci and Dziadziu married and
went on to have two children, Christopher and Donna. They moved from Poland to
America in 1982 where they worked tirelessly to create a better life for their children,
who then blessed them with 5 grandchildren.
Babci was a devoted employee, friend, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother,
who took great pride in influencing, motivating, loving and caring for her family and
friends. She was an exceptional cook, known for her delicious meals (especially her
home-made pierogies and french fries!) and feeding anyone and everyone she could
get to her table. She especially loved gardening and could often be found (if you
looked hard enough beneath her 5 foot plants), tending to her flowers, fruits and
vegetables.
In her free time, Babci enjoyed reading the Bible, knitting, watching polish TV, and
spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Babci was a woman of great faith, who attended St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church
for many years. She was a kind and generous soul who always put others before
herself. Her family and friends will remember her for her warm smile, her boisterous
laugh, and her friendly outgoing personality; along with her stubborn, independent
spirit, her unreserved method of communication, long, detailed stories of times
passed and most of all, her unwavering love.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 10th from 5-7 pm at Bermingham Funeral
Home located at 216 S Main Street in Wharton, NJ.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 11th at 10 am at St. Mary’s Roman
Catholic Church located at 425 W Blackwell Street in Dover, NJ.
Rest in peace, dear Babci. You will be forever missed but always loved and
remembered.
