Concetta “Connie” Leshowitz (neé Bria) passed away Friday July 26, 2024. She will be deeply missed.
Connie was a devoted mother and wife who can now rest peacefully with her husband of 52 years, Charles “Charlie” Leshowitz, who passed away in 2013.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Leshowitz (and Linda’s husband Tim Brazill), her daughter Donna Leshowitz, and her nephews Larry Bria, Joseph Bria and Carl Iacovelli.
Connie grew up in Union City New Jersey, a daughter of Italian immigrants and was bilingual as a child. She loved movies and taking her nephew Larry to visit Manhattan.
She married Charlie in Union City in 1961 and, after having their two daughters, they moved the family to Lake Hopatcong, where Connie lived most of the rest of her life.
Connie took pride in being a homemaker, keeping her house tidy, and supporting her husband and daughters. She liked to bake and cooked fabulous meals (often Italian dishes) that family and friends still fondly recall.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, drawing, other arts and crafts, reading and music (especially Elvis).
Connie is remembered as a kind and loving person. Even in her recent years in the nursing home people often commented that she was sweet and pleasant to be around, and they thought her cherubic smile was adorable.
As Connie had a deep and abiding love of cats, if you would like to commemorate her life you might consider a donation in her name to a cat shelter or other animal welfare non-profit.
