Caroline Connors Onyx (1988-2024)
Caroline “Carrie” Onyx passed away peacefully at her home in Glendale, AZ on January 3, 2024. Carrie was born on May 27, 1988 to Wayne Onyx and Bridget Hennessey. She grew up in North Barrington, IL and later moved to Lake Zurich, IL and then to Glendale, AZ. Carrie’s congenital, intellectual and physical challenges were always outshined by her abundant affection for her family and friends. Carrie was quick to give a sly smile and to share a kiss on the cheek with all the special people in her life. Carrie loved listening to music and having books read to her, especially One Fish Two Fish by Dr. Seuss. She also enjoyed cuddling with her dad and watching golf on TV. Carrie attended Kirk School, a Special Education school in Palatine, IL. There she enjoyed field trips, attended dances, and made strong connections with classmates, teachers, and staff. From 2011-2021 Carrie was a resident of Mount Saint Joseph in Lake Zurich, IL. She moved to Arizona in 2021 to be closer to her father. Carrie was predeceased by her father, Wayne Onyx, mother, Bridget Hennessey, grandfather Robert Onyx, grandfather Paul Hennessey and grandmother Dorothy Hennessey. Carrie is survived by her stepmother, Lisa Onyx, grandmother Annette Onyx, her uncles including Lee Onyx (Karen), Edward Hennessey (Janet), Michael Hennessey (Cathy), Sean Hennessey (Michelle), Emmett Hennessey (Janet), and her aunt, Maura Appelson (Steve), as well as her many cousins. Carrie will be dearly missed by her closest friends Rowena Osburn, Adam Voyda and Cassandra Bogan, who were like family to her.
