West Milford: Carl A. Bendsen passed away at home on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 with his family at his side. He was 74 years of age.
Carl was born in Manhattan and was raised in the Long Island City, Queens. He moved to Wharton in 1988 and has lived in Highland Lakes from 2009 to 2016 before moving to West Milford. He always wanted to live in the country and loved his home and property in West Milford.
Mr. Bendsen drove for Yellow Freight for years and was a long-time employee of ABC Supply Co., retiring in 2021.
He was an Army Vietnam Veteran. Carl enjoyed playing sports growing up. Playing baseball on asphalt in a parking lot with a bunch of his buddies. He often Coached and participated in playing softball with his 3 daughters as well. Carl is also a lifelong New York Rangers Fan. He would gear up in all his hockey gear and get on the ice . He also liked salt water fishing and as a lifelong animal lover, he loved walking his dogs.
Carl was generous, loving, sweet tempered. He was the kind of person who personified the term “give you the shirt off his back.” He loved his family and spent many holidays – especially Halloween, dressed up as characters.
