Betty Morales Obituary

Betty M. Morales, 84, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, at Pine Acres in Madison, New Jersey, with her daughter, Sussie, by her side.

Betty was born on May 21, 1941, in Riobamba, Ecuador, to Felix German and Julia Victoria (Palacios) Cabezas and was the second of eight children. In time, she met and married her beloved, Jaime Enrique. Together, Betty and Jaime journeyed to Brooklyn, New York, where they welcomed four children and began a new chapter filled with hope and hard work.

A devoted homemaker, Betty found great joy in cooking, baking, reading, and knitting. Her home was filled with warmth and delicious food, and she was known for her hospitality—often welcoming family members from Ecuador and helping them as they began new lives in the United States.

Eventually, they settled in Dover, New Jersey, where they raised their family. Betty began working her first job at Thatcher Glass in Wharton as an inspector. Following the company’s closure, Betty became self-employed and pursued her creative passions by attending Wilfred Academy Beauty School, where she became a licensed beautician. Later in life, her love of learning led her to Dover Business College, where she studied computer skills.

Betty lived her faith daily through service and kindness, becoming a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Dover in 1985.  Visiting others, singing in the choir with her Relief Society sisters, and preparing meals for missionaries from around the world were some of the things she loved to do. Betty will be remembered for her faith, generosity, and the love she poured into her family and community.

Even more, Betty will be remembered as a committed wife, mother, and “mima”. Steadfast in her love and devotion, Betty was a constant source of strength and comfort for her husband, children, and grandchildren throughout their lives. Her unwavering loyalty and nurturing spirit carried her family through every challenge, especially during her beloved husband’s long illness, when she remained their unshakable rock and guiding light.

In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Jaime, and her brothers Manuel and Enrique. She is survived by her children: Jimmy and wife Susan of St. Cloud, FL; Carlos and life partner Mary of Clifton, NJ; Jessica and husband Henry of Dover, NJ; and Sussie of Rockaway, NJ. She is also lovingly remembered by her four grandchildren, Austin Nieves, Andrew Nieves, Matthew Morales, and Adam Nieves; her siblings, Aida, Washington, Victoria, Theresa, and Rosa; along with nieces, nephews, and many other extended family members who will miss her deeply.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 103 Bassett Hwy, Dover, NJ.

A Private Interment will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Mine Hill, New Jersey.
