Barbara E. (Gardiner) Casal

Barbara passed away the evening of April 7, 2021, with friends at her side, (albeit via a zoom video gathering.) She was 88 years of age.

Barbara was born in White Plains, NY. Her family moved to Lake Hiawatha, NJ, where she spent most of her childhood. She graduated from Boonton High School and attended almost every high school class reunion well into her 80’s.

After marrying the love of her life Raymon Casal, she moved to Marcella, NJ, where she became a homemaker and mom. Over the years, she held a series of positions from a hostess at Neil’s New Yorker in Mountain Lakes, NJ, to an office manager for the developer and construction office of the Rockaway Townsquare Mall. She volunteered at the Rockaway Library where her love of books flourished. Her longest job position—of approximately 17 years—she was an Executive Secretary for a beverage and liquor distribution company, in West Caldwell, NJ.

She was predeceased by her parents Graeme Gardiner, and Sarah O’Connor, her sister Natalie, and her beloved son Neal Graeme Casal. She is survived by her cherished cat, Lilly, and her friends, and neighbors who all became even closer to her; upon the death of her son.

Barbara enjoyed time with her friends, girl talk, and belly laughs. She always wore a shade of red on her lips, had a tissue in one hand, and glass of Pinot Grigio in the other. She spent the last 14 years living at Centennial Court on Main Street in Wharton where she developed a number of close friendships.
