Austin D. Smith

Wharton:  Austin D. Smith passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.  He was 94 years of age.

Austin was born in Dover and was a lifelong resident of Wharton.

Mr. Smith was a Korean War Marine veteran and a member of the Wharton American Legion Post 91 of Wharton.

He worked for the Railroad, Social Security and was a Boiler/Fireman for Picatinny Arsenal along with his responsibilities for the animal control in Wharton for 28 years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and Cruising on Ships around the world with is wife and daughter.

Predeceased by his parents, Duncan C. and Ruth (née Gibbons) & his wife Betty Jane (née Colello).

Survived by his daughter, Brenda Smith.

Visitation will be held 10-12pm on Monday, December 9, 2024 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton, NJ.

A funeral service will be held 12 Noon after the visiting at funeral home.

Interment will follow at Berkshire Valley Presbyterian Cemetery.
