Alyce Polyak, who spent most of her life in the Mt. Hope section of Rockaway Township, passed away on January 16, 2025, at the age of 91, surrounded by her family at the Oaks Health Facility in Denville, New Jersey.
She was born and raised in Dover, went to Dover High School and was an active parishioners of St. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Rockaway, New Jersey. Alyce and her husband, George, owned and operated Master Cleaners in Wharton, NJ for 23 years. They later owned George’s Liquor and Deli in Budd Lake, NJ, for 6 years before happily retiring to enjoy traveling.
Alyce treasured the time spent with her family and friends. She found immense joy in being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always providing unwavering support in their activities and endeavors.
Alyce was predeceased by her husband George Polyak II who passed in 1996, son George Polyak III who passed in 1994 and daughter, Dawn Koroly who passed in 2023 and her brother Frank Thompson who passed in 2018.
Survivors include her children: Deborah Borny and her husband Robert, Frank Polyak and his wife Debbie, her sister, Barbara Sweedy and husband Lenny and sister-in-law Gail Thompson, her grandchildren: Michael and Christopher Koroly, Jennifer Borny, Rob Borny and his wife Lauren, Nichole Howard and her husband Joe, Frank Polyak and his wife Lauryn and George Polyak IV, and her great grandchildren: Kayla and Kristen Koroly, Jackson and Noah Borny, Aiden and Sawyer Howard, Luca Ilijic, George Polyak V, and Blake Polyak.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30 am on Monday, January 20, 2025 at St. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 66 Beach Street, Rockaway, NJ 07886.
Interment to follow, St. Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery, Quaker Avenue, Randolph, NJ.
