Agnes Marie Boudjouk, 84, of Boonton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 5th, 2021. She previously lived in Wayne, NJ and was a former longtime resident of Hawthorne, NJ.
Agnes was a loving mother to her son David J. Sturno and his wife Lila Sunflower Arco, and to her son Thomas A. Sturno who predeceased her in 1969. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Nadema (Kady) Boudjouk; the dear sister of Michael Boudjouk and his wife Amy, the late Victoria (Boudjouk) and Ronald H. Carr, Sr., and the late Joseph T. Boudjouk and his wife Margarita.
Agnes was a beloved aunt to Anthony J. Boudjouk, Diana M. Boudjouk and her partner Joshua Van Varick; Paula (Boudjouk) Symington and her husband Darren; Michael J. Boudjouk and his wife Jane; Suzanne (Boudjouk) Bloom and her husband Mike; Kevin Carr, Karen (Carr) Wojcik; and Ronald H. Carr, Jr. and his wife Annette. Agnes is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, a great grand niece and nephew.
Agnes was born in Paterson, NJ on October 27th, 1936. Her parents, Anthony and Nadema, came to the United States from Aleppo, Syria.
Agnes graduated from St. John Cathedral High School in Paterson in 1954 and was known as a hard working and dedicated student. After raising a family Agnes once again turned her attention to school pursuing an Associates Degree at Bergen Community College from which she graduated in 1979. Most of her professional life was spent working at the office of The Neurology Group of Ridgewood and also Schweiger Dermatology in Fair Lawn.
Agnes was an active member of St. Anthony’s Church during her years living in Hawthorne. She treasured her Cornerstone Retreats and volunteering for the Feast of St. Anthony. Family and friends loved visiting Agnes at the feast, and of course having some zeppole. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She took great pride in decorating her Christmas tree and loved sharing it with family and friends. Agnes was a huge NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. She loved the beach, visiting the malls with her beloved niece Diana and visiting her son, daughter-in-law, and their dog Goose in California. Agnes travelled twice to Europe with her best friend Rose where they took in the sights of Italy and made a pilgrimage to Medjugorje.
A service will be held at a later date, when family and friends can gather together safely.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
