Wharton: Adam P. Cables passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at St. Michael’s Medical Center, Newark, after a long battle with cancer. He was 53 years of age.
Adam was born in Albany, New York, on December 4th, 1971. At age 4, his family moved to Rockaway, New Jersey, where he primarily grew up. At age 23, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He earned the rank of Corporal, and though cancer cut his career short in 1999, he was Semper Fi until the day he passed. His career as a Marine was one of his proudest achievements. After his military service, Adam, along with his wife and three children, moved to Wharton, New Jersey, where he has resided since 2000.
Shortly after moving to Wharton, Mr. Cables started a career in the HVAC industry, moving his way up the ladder from an installer to a supervisory role. He spent 23 years with Air Group, and was incredibly dedicated to his work. Additionally, Adam was also an exempt fireman, serving as Chief in 2010 for the Wharton Fire Department. He was a firefighter for over 20 years, and it was a great source of pride for him.
He enjoyed being an important member of his community. He enjoyed being a firefighter and never hesitated to answer the call. He enjoyed sitting outside on a warm day with a cold beer and some good music and good friends. He was a salt-of-the-earth, hometown guy who took pride in his home and community.
Predeceased by his parents, Philipp and Marion Cables & his older sister, Christina Marie Cables.
Survived by his wife Rebecca Cables of 27 years.
Three Children: Kasandra Siegel and her husband, Gregory of Littleton, CO.
Edward King of Wharton.
Katelyn King of Wharton.
One sister: Alison Stein and her husband Mark of Hopatcong.
He is also survived by Alison’s three daughters: Lea, Sarah & Ava.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.
A fireman service will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, after the visitation, also at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, we will have an American Legion service with military honors rendered by the US Marines.
