Toribia Chavez Obituary

Belvidere:  Toribia “Tori” Chavez of Belvidere, NJ passed away Sunday March 10, 2019 at Morristown Medical Center after losing a one and a half year battle with Stage IV Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

Born on April 16, 1961 in the small town of Huehuepiaxtla, Mexico, Toribia was a hard worker who worked harsh jobs since the age of her mom’s passing ( 7 years old).

After meeting the love of her life, Francisco Chavez, at age 13 they started a family of four children, all born in Mexico. Desperate to give them a better life, Toribia single-handedly brought them all to the United States in search of the American Dream.

In New York, Toribia worked as a seamstress and sold Mary Kay to provide for her four children. She then moved to New Jersey where she’d have her youngest child and open a Mexican restaurant, administered with her husband Francisco. As her children got older, Toribia decided to become a homemaker to better care for her youngest daughter.

Toribia was a very eccentric and wild spoken person. She had a unique personality that could light up a room, something that she was characterized by. Toribia enjoyed cooking, dancing, listening to music and doing anything possible to make her children happy. Toribia is remembered as a person full of joy, happiness and faith in God.

Toribia is survived by her husband, Francisco Chavez; daughters Nancy and Nathalee Chavez; sons Marino, Jorge and Cesar Chavez; grandchildren Jared, Sophia, Jacob, Ismael, Jade and Miranda Chavez. She is survived by her siblings Roberta Mendez and Adan Contreras.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 5pm to 9pm.
